Kids Serve, Too!
Every day, members of the Picerne Military Housing team have the pleasure of serving some amazing military kids. These kids didn’t volunteer for our all-volunteer military, yet they serve and sacrifice alongside their Service Member parent (or parents) every day. In April, we invite you to join us in paying tribute to the young heroes we serve by celebrating Month of the Military Child.
As part of a month long celebration of military children, we also put forward a sobering reminder to KEEP KIDS SAFE! The month of April is also set aside as National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.
In support of military kids, Picerne Military Housing is partnering with ACS Family Advocacy Programs, Child, Youth and School Services, county social service programs, and other community resources to promote prevention programs and activities as well as foster awareness. Some of the activities include Pinwheels for Prevention at Forts Bragg and Rucker, and a parenting class at Fort Rucker entitled "1-2-3 Magic, Effective Discipline for Children". "My Body is My Own" is a teen educational activity at Fort Polk. Family Fun Days are being hosted at Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground. Events such as parades, festivals, egg hunts, and more will be held at Forts Riley and Sill throughout April in celebration of Month of the Military Child.
In solidarity for the promotion of child abuse prevention, Picerne Military Housing team members will wear blue ribbons during the week of April 23–27 to remind everyone that we all can contribute in a positive way to ensure the safety and well being of our children, our future.
